The Buy Local Campaign urges Atascadero citizens to patronize locally owned businesses. Look for the Buy Local acorn sticker in the window of businesses in town.

Why Buy Local?

• Dollars spent at locally owned businesses re-circulate in Atascadero and provide several times the economic benefit to our town compared to purchases at large chains or through the internet. Click here to download a study.
• Locally owned businesses use local support services--advertising, architects, local banks, computing services, cabinet makers, to name a few--enhancing the economic vitality of Atascadero.
• Local business owners have a long term stake in the health of our community: they are our neighbors; their children go to our schools; they actively participate in local charitable and civic causes and play a vital role in the social fabric of Atascadero.
• Local business owners provide a high level of expertise and service to their customers. They get to know their customers and their needs and preferences and try to accommodate them.
• Local businesses help to give Atascadero its unique character and individuality, rather than the homogenization of large chains now found in so many towns. They provide a high level of quality and diversity in the goods they provide.

What is Buy Local?
Businesses who meet the following criteria are invited to join our Buy Local Campaign. Vision Atascadero will be promoting Buy Local participants through ads, mailers, handy shopping guides, this web site, and more.

1. The business has a location in Atascadero;
2. The majority owner of the business lives in SLO County;
3. If the business is part of a chain, the majority of outlets are in SLO County.

Who's Behind Buy Local?
The Buy Local campaign is organized by Vision Atascadero is a non-profit organization formed by an independent group of Atascadero citizens whose goals are

• To foster a greater sense of community in Atascadero;
  
• To encourage positive, proactive approaches to community issues;
  
• To promote thoughtful, informed citizen involvement in our community;
  
• To educate citizens about local issues.
